Teen Actress Slept at Park, Someone's Home

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (AP) - A teen actress who apparently ran away from home spent nearly two weeks sleeping at a park and at the residence of a family that took her in, police said.

Scout Taylor-Compton, who recently starred in the comedy ``Sleepover,'' was reunited with her family Thursday after the Apple Valley Police Department found her.

A high school coach told police one of his students was bragging that a movie star was sleeping at his home, Officer Cesar Molina said.

When officers went to the house, Taylor-Compton, who had dyed her hair from red to black, darted for cover.

``I see this young girl run ... and they say 'Scout, they know you are here, come out,''' Molina said.

Taylor-Compton told officers she had been sleeping at a playground before meeting a family at the park who offered her shelter. A member of the family told the Victorville Daily Press the actress had been having problems at home.

Police said she appeared in good health and there was no criminal activity during the time she was missing.

``I counseled her,'' Molina said. ``She is 16, she already has her high school diploma, she has it made at home, she has a life everyone wants theirs to be like, and I told her, 'Don't blow it.' And she said 'I know.'''

Along with 2004's ``Sleepover,'' Taylor-Compton played a bit part in ``13 Going on 30,'' with Jennifer Garner, and recently landed a leading role in the Bravo series ``Hidden Howie.''

Diane Lane to Shoot Movie in Missouri

A little bit of Hollywood is coming to Cape Girardeau. Producers of "Killshot" have confirmed that Diane Lane and other stars and crew will be in town later this year or in early 2006 to shoot scenes for the movie.

Based on the 1989 novel by Elmore Leonard, "Killshot" will tell the story of a married couple who find themselves in Cape Girardeau while on the run from a pair of hitmen.

Scenes for the film will be shot in late December or early January, said Jerry Jones, executive director of the Missouri Film Commission.

Cape Girardeau is of huge atmospheric importance to the film," co-producer David Webb said recently from Toronto.

Directors and producers took a five-hour tour of the southeast Missouri town in July. "We loved the whole Mississippi River aspect of it. You can't exactly recreate that," said Webb.

"Killshot," directed by John Madden, also will star Mickey Rourke and Justin Timberlake. It is expected to be released next year.

Knightley in awe of the Oscars

Keira Knightley of "Bend It Like Beckham" fame thought she did not deserve to be at the Oscars party earlier this year because she had not been nominated for any award. According to contactmusic.com, the actress finds showbiz events intimidating and considers herself socially awkward.
She says: "Last year I went to the Vanity Fair party after the Oscars and I stood in the corner and had a lot of champagne.

"It's very, very scary. It's great for people who are nominated and maybe get the prizes, but it's pretty frightening. One of my New Year's resolutions this year was to become more sociable because I'm really bad at it."

Q&A: Oasis' Noel Gallagher

LONDON (Billboard) - It has often been a rocky decade, but Oasis has rolled with it.

Reinvigorating the dreary British music scene of the pre-Britpop 1990s, these dropouts hailing from a Manchester, England, housing project sparkled and soared like the champagne supernova of their famous song.

Steadfast in the belief that it is better to risk a bad opinion than excite no opinion at all, the band raced up the rankings in U.K. rock without looking back. When it hit the top 10 for the first time in the summer of 1994 with the song "Live Forever," fans knew the title was no empty promise.

The swagger of Oasis' first chart singles earlier that year, "Supersonic" and "Shakermaker," presented an offer that a somnambulant British music industry could not, and did not, want to resist.

But the group's braggadocio was founded in hard work, endless rehearsals and gigs with little glamour from as early as 1991.
